RUSCCF Scholarship Program
The Rotary Club of Cooroy supports the RUSCCF Scholarship program, established through a partnership between the Combined Rotary Clubs of the Sunshine Coast and the UniSC Advancement Office, that has played a crucial role in supporting postgraduate research at the university since its inception in 1996-97.
• More than $230,000 has been contributed to the scholarship fund since its establishment.
• Over 70 scholarships have been awarded to date.
Each year, scholarships are presented to the three most meritorious postgraduate students. Professor Michael Wilmore and Melissa Price provided an summary of the UniSc priorities and successes and introduced the 2025 RUSCCF Scholarship Recipients: -
• Riley Banaghan (apology): Researching whale entanglement in shark netting.
• Tyson Alker: Investigating gender dynamics and masculinity in policing.
• Melina Keane: Leading the Melina Blue Biosphere Project, which focuses on understanding human-wildlife interactions with iconic marine species.

Assisting Hoofbeats Sanctuary

Assisting Hoofbeats Sanctuary with a temporary shelter at their new premises. Hoofbeats has moved and is now located at a secluded facility near Yandina.They provide a trauma healing center and have programs operating seven days a week. All visits to the Sanctuary must be arranged by prior appointment in order to preserve the space’s peace and tranquillity and protect the privacy of their clients.
